MLK Classic

In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, The St. James MLK Classic brings top high school basketball teams from across the nation to D.C. for a weekend of intense competition. On Sunday, teams are taken off the courts for a day trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture as well as the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

With this identity, I set out to represent the MLK Classic not only as a competition worthy of national recognition, but a vessel for a very unique and exciting version of the American dream.

The logo mark is intended to be a strong centerpiece for the event, both classic and timeless, unique while fitting snugly within the STJ brand.

Distinct accent elements helped solidify and expand the campaign identity in owned and earned media. The 2024 campaign saw millions of impressions across dozens of media outlets.
